How It Works - Yucatan Mexico Beach Realty

The WiFi signal is delivered from Merida via a repeater tower located half way between Merida and Chelem. There will be a series of six repeater towers transmitting the signal from the principal transmitting tower in Chelem once the entire network is installed.

The signal is a radio signal which is received by a special antenna purchased through YMB Wireless.

The antenna comes in a kit comprised of 4 parts. (Fig. 1)

The radio receiver , the arm, the shield, assembly hardware ( plus instructions). It requires assembly with only a few tools usually found in any household. (Fig.2)

You will also need clear silicon to seal the connections from the elements and appropriate lengths of Ethernet and electrical cable to connect your radio to your desk top and provide the 110 Volt power to the radio unit. The appropriate lengths of cable may be purchased from YMB @ 15 mxp per foot. This will vary on installation; however the Ethernet cable should not exceed 100 meters in length in order to maintain signal quality and strength.

Because of the length (1 meter) cable from the arm to the radio unit, the unit will need to be mounted next to the antenna. The antenna itself is designed to be mounted to a 1 ¼ to 1 ½ inch aluminum or galvanized metal post which should then be secured to to provide adequate support.. The pipe is not included.

The antenna works on a line of site basis. This means it needs to be pointed in the direction of the Tower closest to the intended location of use.

This is not a satellite application where you need to satisfy, swing, skew and elevation concerns. Just point the antenna in the tower direction, and the signal is attained.

Important note !! You cannot point the antenna at the wall of a 3 storey building beside you and expect to get the signal. Line of site means clear site lines. In some cases this will necessitate placing the antenna on an aluminum mast of adequate height to obtain clear site lines. The same procedure can be followed to avoid other derogatory effects Ie: large trees etc.etc.

If YMB Wireless is installing we will need a site plan in order to quote on the install.
